I am Georgina, a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist gaining my qualification from the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. I am also an instructor for Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England.
I am passionate about understanding the human condition using science and evidence to improve lifelong wellbeing, happiness and success, with a background in Psychology and Neuroscience. I love interacting and helping people and have always gravitated towards jobs and hobbies that allow me to do so. My personal interests are in the power and potential of the human mind. Having travelled on my own journey in developing my well-being and spirituality through the use of yoga, meditation, competitive sports, self-hypnosis and journaling I am driven to share my knowledge and experience to train others to build lifelong resilience and self-confidence.
Understanding the connection between your emotions, thoughts and behaviours can be transformative when harnessed with the power of your imagination. There are so many ways to heal and optimise the brain.
I have experience in a neuro-rehabilitation centre working with adults with brain injury from drug and alcohol addictions and trauma, helping these individuals to understand their illness and better cope day-to-day with the psychological struggles accompanied with these conditions. Having studied a BSc in Psychology, gaining a first class honours, a Masters in Cognitive Neuroscience and working in related psychological, analytical and scientific fields for 10 years, I strongly believe in a scientific and evidenced-based approach to therapy.
CBH (Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy) unites my experience and passions, providing a very well equipped tool-kit, deeply underpinned by scientific research, for dealing with common personal issues that arise in individual day-to-day lives. I am experienced in treating a wide range of stress and anxiety related issues, including phobias, low self-esteem, low self-worth, general anxiety and stress, tension, sleep issues, pain management, habits and performance.
My approach to CBH is present based and solution-focused and fully integrates CBT with evidence-based hypnosis, incorporating mindfulness, relaxation, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a strong focus on practical techniques and skills training for building long-term resilience and self-efficacy. I am able to tailor treatment individually to work with you on specific issues - following a client-led approach. As part of private practice and in addition to one-to-one therapy I run customised workshops such as on self-hypnosis; mindfulness and relaxation; stress and resilience and well-being at work.
One of the most exciting findings from scientific research for me is that people can literally change their brains and change their lives by engaging in regular healthy habits for your brain, such as correcting negative beliefs,
using meditation, mindfulness techniques, imaginal rehearsal and general relaxation and resilience skills.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how CBH works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help. You can also call me on 07794964364 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first.
